Barbara Riley lives in Horopito in a
cottage full of character, an old mill building over 100 years old.
My interest in art started when I was
at school. My art teacher said “Tries hard but no talent”.
When my children were young I took a
course in drawing and was hooked.
Sketching on and off over the years I
promised myself I would do more when I had time.
When I came to the Waimarino I met Dot
Barnes and the journey began. With Dot's guidance and
encouragement here I am today.
I work in acrylic, pastels and pencil,
my inspiration comes from whatever touches my heart.
I have entered a few times in the
Waimarino Art Awards and the Journey exhibition in
